For now is the chance for you or a loved one to be celebrated on canvas by Chelsea artist, Gail Graham, a former Newspaper Art Director herself and wife of a top veteran Fleet Street newspaper executive who has persuaded her to offer for the first and only time an auction prize at the London Press Ball.
A sitting with this top portrait painter is one of the star prizes in the Ball’s auction raising vital funds for the Journalists’ Charity which has been helping journalists in need since 1864.
You can view Lot 33 at the auction website: http://www.pressclubball2016.com/lite-ui/#lots/show/33
Details of her work can be viewed at www.gailgraham.co.uk
Gail has already been commissioned to paint two Royal portraits – her 2011 painting of Her Majesty The Queen is in the main lobby of the Queen Mary 2 and limited prints of her privately owned portrait of The Duke of Edinburgh are on sale in aid of the Duke Of Edinburgh Awards scheme.
X-Factor supremo Simon Cowell had originally asked only for a pencil sketch when he visited her studio but Gail went on to paint him as one of a series of oils inspired by Rembrandt self-portraits. This series included US President Barack Obama and her stepson, James Garside.
Gail begins a portrait by personally making a series of photographic studies which are used to capture the essence and character of her sitter. The finished portrait offered up for the London Press Club ball charity auction will be oil on canvas, approx size 11″ X 14″ and details of the sitting will be arranged direct.
Givergy, the London Press Club Ball’s online charity auction partners, are hosting fund-raising lots as diverse as a host of exotic holidays to luxury resorts, a rock fan’s dream package including Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason’s signed drumsticks and entry to the super-group’s exhibition at the V&A next year. Bidding is open now and continues on the night among guests via electronic tablets on each table.
